audio not working

i was installing the motherboard on my pc and i put all the wires in accept hd audio by accident so i opened the case and put it in when i realised but after i did that the audio still didn't work. is there any way to make it work?

Have you installed the sound driver for the sound card (from the card manufacturer's website)?

i don't have a sound card i'm using onboard sound

my motherboard is the gigabyte ga-g31m-es2l rev 2.0 if that helps

what os do i choose if i have 8.1 64-bit?

Aah! Therein lies the problem. Windows 8/8.1 is not supported on that motherboard model.
You should have checked their website before installing Windows 8.1

The problem can be overcome by installing an add-on PCI soundcard - - it will include a Windows 7 driver on a CD inside the box.

if i were to go back to windows 7 would it work?
i never really liked windows 8 anyway

yes of course it would work on Windows 7 because Gigabyte has Windows 7 drivers for it.

i found a different soloution
before i put the motherboard in the new case someone disabled the audio in the BIOS but thanks anyway
