Hello, I am remaking this post into a discussion thread so everybody can give me their opinion.I have built gaming computers for a decade now and after getting a good job i decided i will spend anything required to have an extreme gaming computer and now a computer for working. I do a lot of multitasking, 3d animation projects and gaming. Obviously what gives you speed and performance is the clock-speed of the memory not the quantity of memory. U wish i can get a good answer based on DDR3 and DDR4 type memory but lets focus on DDR3.

Best answer i got in the other thread:
Tradesman1: "What mobo and CPU are you looking at? If 2011 socket then a 4 (4x4GB or 4x8GB) stick setup so you can use quad channel, if looking at 1150 the either a 2x8GB (16GB is prob the minimum you want with what you are doing) or 4x8GB, mobo and CPU will determine what freqs you can use"

I guess if the motherboard supports quad channel more sticks will be better but lets focus on dual channel or just in what is better more sticks or less if it surpass thee channel capability.

For what you are doing I would go with 16GB or higher with your memory. Socket 2011 and 1150 or two seperate sockets. If you need more than 16GB of RAM then you might need to go quad channel in order to meet your specific needs.

Depends which socket, Quad-Channel: 4 sticks. Dual Channel: 2 sticks. Dividing the ram over more slots won't do anything but increase your chances of getting a bad stick, and you'll (probably) end up paying more. 16 GB or more is probably a good idea.

Minimal sticks to accomplish the goal of the full amount of DRAM you want to the mobos capabilities, i.e. a dual channel mobo then 2 sticks a quad channel mobo like 2011 then 4 sticks, less sticks = less stress on the MC 9memory controller) and can be ever so slightly faster, i.e. in a dual channel like the 1150 with 16GB, 2x8GB is the best, better than 4x4GB
