Hi to all the community!

A friend just got an used Powercolor HD 6870 1 GB & he wants to start a gaming pc.
I suggest him this build, but I got worried about bottleneck.

*CPU=Intel Pentium G3220 3.0GHz Dual-Core Processor

*Motherboard=ASRock H81M-HDS Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard

*Memory=G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 4GB (1 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory

*Storage=Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive

*Power Supply=Corsair Builder 500W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply

The buget around $250 U.S. any builds are acceped! (AMD, Intel)
Thanks in advance.

(Sorry for bad english)

1) I will get the g3258, it is better than the g3220. http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Pentium-G3220-vs-Intel-G3... and http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/pentium-g3258-overc...
2)And if you have more $$ then you can get the aftermarket cpu cooler for ocing, you can see the review. http://www.guru3d.com/news-story/asus-adds-overclocking...
3)You also can get the 430W PSU, but just get the cx500w even it is not the best one, but you don't need other upgrading the psu for while.

I am assuming you do not need a case. So why go for a pentium when with 10 bucks more you can get an i3. Which will not even bottleneck the gtx 770. Well look at this: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/DCKgrH
And anyways if you want to overclock a g3258 to get it to i3 performance, you will need a cpu cooler and a z97 mobo which cost 60 bucks more altogether. So, my advice would be to go with an i3. And note that you will need to update the bios of the h81m-h before you can place the i3 4150. You could buy an h97 mobo for 30 bucks extra or you could just get an i3 4130 for 10 bucks more (Don't understand this pricing). Otherwise if you are not okay with this build I will put in a build with the athlon 760k which is an extremely good performance for cost chip.

Should you choose my build, here are the bios updates: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=...
Also check if your mobo is rev 1.0 or 1.1 before updating bios

Don't cut corner on the PSU, here is PSU tier list. http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1804779/power-su... If you get the haswell cpu then you need check the PSU is haswell compatible or not. Like http://techreport.com/review/24897/the-big-haswell-psu-... If you go ahead to buy the G3258 then you will need the aftermarket cooler for oc too, if you get the i3 like Akhil said then you don't need it.

By the way, Hi Akhil Potukuchi, you don't have to get the z97 or other Z-series MB to oc the g3258. here is more info:

I know that. You can do that by buying an asus mobo or modding the bios. I've done it before. I just wouldn't trust the power input and vrm cooling of these mobos. And buying an h81 or b85 chipset along with g3258 would leave OP with 30- 40 more bucks. And then he can get 4 more gigs of ram. That is also an option. But I won't recommend it because I won't compromise processing power for RAM. He can always buy more gigs of ram later. But to upgrade the cpu later would be costlier and more cumbersome.

Thanks for all the info guys, awesome builds.

GOOD NEWS! We've got $50 U.S. more (he sold his old xbox 360 & is totally IN to be a pc gamer)

So now with the $300 U.S. total:

Intel: Core i-series

or

AMD: FX series

(Again sorry for bad english)

Whatever AMD or intel, as long as you get the good deal, they are almost same for most games with same GPU. because most games are GPU intensive games, if you play the CPU intensive game like GTA, ARMA, etc. you need the FX build.
