I want to get a FX-4300 in replacement for an X4 760K, but it requires a motherboard with a FM3 slot, whereas I am currently getting a:
- Gigabyte GA-F2A88XM-DS2 M-ATX Motherboard (Socket FM2+, A88X, DDR3, S-ATA 600)
And the GPU I'm getting is a R9 270X.
So the questions I'm asking are...
Should I get trade my CPU to the FX-4300?
And if so, what new motherboard should I get?
I'm looking at a motherboard at around £35 (€58).

Solution
The FX-4300 needs a AM3+ socket motherboards. FM3 socket doesn't exist yet.

The performance difference between the 4300 and the 760K is almost non existent in real life applications, even less on gaming. So there's no point going from the 760K to the 4300. You can use the R9 270X with the 760K, there will be a little bottleneck to none depending on the game. And you can upgrade the 760K to the 860K Kaveri when it comes out in a few months.

Or, if you still want to change platform, go with AM3+ and FX-6300 or Intel haswell Core i3-4150.

Okay, I'll go ahead with 760K and the R9 270x for now, and upgrade the CPU later on. Cheers
