Hi, I already own a Gigabyte AMD R9 270 and am thinking of getting another and going crossfire. They currently sell for around £130.

I've recently upgraded to a 1440p display and am experiencing the expected lower frame rates compared to 1080p. My power supply was bought with my graphics card with enough wattage to support crossfire if I decided to do so - so this is not an issue. If I was building from scratch I'd get a single higher end GPU, but as I already have a 270 it seems a shame to waste it.

Is going crossfire a good idea or should I live with what I have for a bit then get a single higher end GPU when funds become available? (If so any suggestions?)

Thanks for any advice :)

if u use a 1440 p monitor then u have to get a new card or CF with the existing but its better if u can sell the r9 270 and get a high end card like r9 290x for getting good fps at 1440p monitor cf should be a choice made when u have no money for high end cards and want better performance but it should not be done in the first place because it have some drawbacks....

I would go for crossfire, have done it a few times and never had terrible problems.Just put the cards together in the system, maybe get rid of the current drivers and reinstall them fresh.

For getting rid of old drivers could you use one of the following two programs,
http://www.guru3d.com/files_details/display_driver_unin...
or
http://treexy.com/products/driver-fusion

The advantage of the r9 290 is it's bigger amount of vram.

Look at some reviews, they must be there.

Having had more of a play around with various games now I'm happy enough to continue plodding on until enough money becomes available to upgrade to a more powerful card with more vram.

Thank you both for the advice.
