Shutting Down Abruptly

Very recently (this morning) my pc decides to shut off roughly 5 minutes into gaming (specifically Counter Strike: Global Offensive). I haven't played any other games so I am unsure whether or not it is specific to that game, I can browse the internet fine. In fact I've spent the passed hour searching for a solution with no problems. All temps seem fine, my CPU can get toasty during hot summer days but that's about it. I was told by a friend my power supply may have an issue which seems to be the case but just wanted a second opinion.

*Also my fps in game started stuttering very dramatically last night, right before my PC turns off the backlighting on my keyboard goes out and immediately after my monitors go black because my pc's shut off. If i turn it on again whether it is right after it goes out or 10 minutes after my monitors receive no signal nor does my backlighting for my keyboard turn back on.

PC Specs:
i7-3930k (not overclocked)
MSI Radeon HD 6950 (not overclocked)
Corsair HX 1000w PSU *component in question*
12Gb Corsair Vengeance
Gigabyte G1 Assassin 2 Motherboard

Solution
Hi,

First download coretemp, realtemp, hwmonitor or speedfan to monitor your CPU temps and msi afterburner for the gpu to ruke out overheating.

To test the PSU, the easy way is to test with a known working PSU
That's a good PSU, and you are not stressing it. What does HWMonitor say about your other temps, such as the VRMs on your motherboard? Which motherboard is it? What are you using to cool your CPU?
Do you have good airflow through your case?

When I ran MSI Afterburner like a week ago it was a cool 40 degrees celcius. Currently it is sitting at 99, i'm pretty sure that could be the problem? I'm not sure how to fix that though, I cleaned out the dust this morning after the shutdowns. I'm going to update the drivers to see if that helps.
