Which way to face CM 212 EVO?

I have a CM HAF 922 and I am going install a CM 212 EVO.

I am wondering which way I should face the fan. The HAF 922 has a 200mm exhaust fan at the top and a 120mm exhaust fan at the back. From what I understand, the 212 EVO's fan pushes air.

So, should I face it pointing upwards (fan on bottom by the GPU, but pushing air up) so the 200mm can draw the air out, or should I face it towards the back (fan on right side, pushing air toward the back of the case)?

Heat rises, so facing it upwards seems like the best option, but everyone seems to face it pointing out the back of the case.

Just so you know, I am also planning on putting a 140mm fan on the bottom as an intake.

Any help is appreciated.

you should install the cooler like this.....

you can go either way as long as you have a smooth air flow. I have three systems with the 212 installed. on all three of them the cooler is mounted pushing the air up into a pair of 120mm exhaust fans on the top. I have no problems what so ever. my idle temps are in the 30s and I never break the 40s under load.

EDIT: However the above post does an excellent job of illustrating the need for low profile RAM. look how close his cooler comes to the RAM sockets and he has his blowing out the back. if you mounted it blowing upwards then the heatsink will block some of your RAM slots. if you have chips with big head fins on them, mount the 212 the way he shows you. if you have no heat fins or low profile fins on your RAM then you can mount it topways. I have all four of my slots filled with Kingston Hyper X blue and my cooler clears them.

It should clear the RAM. I am just wondering about the position because of how the case is set up.

Having it push hot air out of the top makes more sense to me, since hot air rises and the top fan is bigger. It seems like a more direct and quicker way to remove the hot air from the case. But I can't really say if this way is more effective, hence the question.

Pros and cons to each.
If it points up it exhausts some air away from the GPU, and heat naturally rises so it works in that sense.

If it points to the back, it can better receive airflow from the front intakes (if you have any).

ultimately the difference will be generally under 4C either way.

The case has one 200mm front intake. I am also going to install a 140mm intake on the bottom of the case.

Why exactly is side mounting it better for airflow from the front?

side mounting is the proper way because is pushing the air through the heat sink and the rear exhaust is pulling the hot air outside...u have a front 200 mm intake and u are going to install bottom intake which is also a great choice so u will have no problem in cooling if u want then u can use another fan in your heat sink which would pull the air so you will have a push pull airflow....and if u had a top exhaust fan then u will have a well ventilated pc nothing could be better...
