It think it's cause you have it voice activated and the settings are so high for the mic in steam that it's picking up everything. Either change the sensitivity for the mic or put it to push to talk.

Splendid
I know that for Creative Sound Cards there is a option call "What you hear" and that basically record everything from mouse clicks to gaming music and whatever other sound the mic picks up. Muting this option usually solves the problem. Not sure if other audio codecs have this option, maybe there is, but it's named something else. Go to control panel, audio and check out the recording tab, maybe there's something inside that can be disabled.

I think it's a problem on his side and not yours. However can't make any suggestions until we know what he's done and haven't done.

It most likely be a setting in windows or your sound card or chip. One of the others said something about Creative Sound cards but it's never said if you even have a sound card or the built in ones on the mobos. Is your sound a actual card or built in. If it's a sound card can we have the company and model number? If it's built in then I would suggest and this applies to the card and go into the sound program that's usually in your taskbar at the bottom right.

So you checked in the settings for the RealTek software in the bottom right hand corner? Also the Windows Sound area. Off hand I think I've had this happen before but can't remember what I did or if it was somebody else. You could try to google the problem and see if anything pops up. I know that's not what you came here for but it's only to help you out.

Then perhaps I would suggest you try the mobo company since they built it or before that try another headset. Something cheap with a mic. If he happens on that also then it's not the headset.

So it didn't happen on the older headset? Then most likely it's your current one you're using. Not even sure what kind of headset you have. Like if it's something special like a Steel Series or some kind of gaming headset that has it's own software.

Make sure you're testing this out with the people and programs that you're having this problem with on the older headset.

Yea but you said the older headset works just fine with all your settings. Just cause you bought it today doesn't mean anything. If your friend lives close by then take the headset over to his place or try it on another computer.
