Hello Everyone,

I recently got a Sapphire AMD R9-290 Vapor x GPU. According to Newegg the minimum PSU wattage needed is 750. I entered all my system info into a PSU calculator (http://www.extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngine) and it said I need a min of 416 watts but recommended 466.

I currently have a 600 watt PSU, will that work for this system or do I need at least 750 as the Newegg specs said? If that one wont work what wattage would be ideal?

thanks!

I currently have the following in my build:

Case(i dont have it yet since i am replacing my old one) will be a corsair carbide series 300r

I always over-purchase when it comes to PSU's; your PC will only draw what it needs so having "too much power" doesn't hold true. I have a 750W PSU in my rig with an i5 and GTX 760, 16GB, 2 SSD's and a 1TB.

Your 600 may be sufficient, you'll know if it isn't if you experience issues.

what wattage would be ideal? I'm not opposed to buying a replacement in the $100 to $150 range if it would be better for the system.

Seasonic G series 650w. $99 gets you one of the better units on the market that is 80 Plus Gold certified and semi modular. It scored an almost perfect 9.8/10 in testing from jonnyguru.
