I currently have a:
650w powercool X-Viper PSU,
Gigabyte Z97P-D3 Motherboard
8GB of DDR3 RAM
XFX R7950 DD 3GB GDDR5 VRAM
And a 1TB HDD that I forget the make of, and I'm considering getting a SSD.

My question is what is the minimum wattage of PSU I could get away with if I crossfired my old Radeon HD 6850 1GB with my current setup? Thank you.

For those cards in xfire you want a minimum 600w PSU.

first of all you cannot crossfire 7950 with 6850. if you were thinking having 2x6850 that would result in lower performance than a single 7950. about your psu, powercool isnt a unit to trust even for a single gpu config.that would be a tier 5 unit.!

however for 2x7950 you will need at least a quality 650w unit, an 750w preferably!

Take a look at this artcile: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/366574-33-crossfire-q...

You won't benefit in the way you're thinking; you won't get a total of 4GB of GDDR5 because the cards are different models; the crossfire setup will only use 1GB from the R7950 to total 2GB of GDDR5. It is also recommenced to have at least a 750W PSU.

This is correct; you cannot crossfire entirely different series.
