Hi,
I am looking to extend my wireless network in my home.

My modem/router is on one end of the house where the FiOS connection comes in.

On the opposite end of the house, I get like 1 bar signal.

I have cat 6 run from the modem to the other end of the house (livingroom) where the signal is bad.

Can I add an access point or some type of extender to get better wireless coverage in the livingroom?

They can. You may or may not be able to seamlessly roam between them. Some client devices will stubbornly stick with the first one they attach to. Giving them unique SSIDs (even if the same password) and then manually associating simplifies troubleshooting in the future and is usually more reliable. Set the devices to different channels (1,6,11 for 2.4Ghz).

You newegg link looks like it should work. I have no experience with that specific model.

So just a question on that.

Both the AP and the router both use the same SSID and password, right?

How does the client know which to use? Like if I'm in the main part of the house and walk over to the livingroom, how does the client change automatically?
