Which one should I get? I'm starting University this September and I'm looking to get an Ultrabook or something similar. Personally I've had my eyes on the Macbook air 13inch 128gb ssd i5, and the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 12gb ssd i5 which is out on the 28th August in U.K. I'm not sure which to go for as I love what both offer. If it helps I have an iPhone 5S for Apple products, and have an Xbox One, and Windows 8.1 pc on Microsoft end. Any advice/opinions please?

Apple OS? Are you talking about Apple DOS? That hasn't been around since the late...

Well, do you want to run apple os or windows os?

I have the surface pro 3, and I love it. But I cant stand apple os, and for some reason I love windows 8.1.

You should also compare the yoga pro 2. At $1200 you get pretty much an ultrabook, with 3k screen touch, i7, 8gb ram, 256gb ssd, but only like 6 hours battery. Which still isn't bad. But that was my two options I was going through. The surface I think is better, but cost alone, the yoga config ($1200) vs surface equivalent ($1600+$150 ((keyboard)).

I just bought my surface last Friday, still not 100% sure I wont go back and get the yoga pro 2 instead. But only because the surface you cant open up, unlike the Lenovo you can replace the msata ssd and clean out fans ect. And I spent (im a student) $1500 for the surface, but would only spend $1000 for the yoga.

I came from the original surface pro. A faulty wifi card netted me $1000 reimbursement through 1 yr factory warranty ( I bought first one 11 months 20 something days ago, wfewf). The surface pro 3, after using the 1, its just omg better in any/every way. Compared with the yoga, other than not having a clamshell keyboard, is better in every way. Price alone is my only consideration. But I also use the pen a lot.

But if the pen doesn't appeal to you, and especially if you want laptop first tablet second, id consider yoga pro 2 vs MacBook air. Other considerations for windows side if you don't need pen and/or tablet factor and just a great ultrabook with touch screen you could also look into Samsung ativ book 9 plus or the acer s7. Both are top notch, prestine ultrabooks. And in that case, its straight up windows or apple. As anything else is comparable. Battery on air is better, but after 8 hours of battery does it matter?

Oh. I get it. Surely you must be talking about OSX. :sighs:
Do you also say "GM Escalade"?

OP, if you're going to ask for buying advice, you need to give more specifics than "I'm going to University. What should I get?"
If you're studying Mechanical Engineering or anything you need to use AutoCad or something similar, don't get a Mac. Really, If you need Windows applications, don't get a Mac.

However, Computer Science, English, Music, or anything else, I'd get a Mac, especially if you like OSX or don't like the direction Windows is going. If you're going to be doing things graphically oriented, like film or photography, be prepared to spend more money than a MacBook Air. You will need a graphics card.
