I have never built a PC or owned one worth more than $900, but I am a video editor (who also does 3d graphics), and I need a new computer. I decided I am going to build to save a lot of money. If you have experience with building computers, please let me know if these parts would be good for my purposes. Thank you!

Intel Core i7-3930K 3.2GHz 6-Core Processor
Corsair H110 Liquid CPU Cooler
Asus X79 Deluxe Motherboard
G.Skill Ripjaws Z Series 32GB (8 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory
Intel 520 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive (OS and Applications)
Western Digital Caviar Black 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive x4 (RAID 10 for Main Storage)
EVGA GeForce GTX 780 Ti 3GB Superclocked Video Card
NZXT Phantom 820 ATX Full Tower Case
Corsair 760W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply

this is so hawt im sweating over here lol. the 6 cores should go a LONG way with renders. only suggestion is to get a better power supply. Corsair sucks, sorry to say it (other than the AX line and the sub 750W HX units which are Seasonic and or Flextronics). Try to stick with the better PSUs brands like Antec, XFX, and Seasonic.

also another big consideration is video editors and 3d animators etc generally use 16GB + of RAM. The size of your RAM will essentially limit how big of a file you can render or work on at a time. 1600 Mhz is fine, as speed matters far far less than size.

Well i would never say corsair sucks but he is right that seasonic power supply's are generally better at the same price points as corsair power supply's,

The computer I'm currently using is similar to the one you are thinking about building so I can help. There is no reason to pick a 3930k over a 4930k, unless you are getting a really good deal on it. Get a Noctua U14s instead of the h110. I switched from a H100i to the U14s and got better temperatures, while also being quieter. I would also not do that raid setup with the hard drives. If you want more storage just get either a big ssd or hard drive to go with your boot drive, and if you need backup space I would build a NAS box.

1. corsair is a brand and seasonic is both a brand & OEM, Corsair has higher overhead then does Seasonic so Seasonic should beat them on price in theory

2. PSU prices fluctuate daily on sites like newegg so if you don't like the price of a PSU one day, just wait a few days for the sale, rebate, etc.,

3. You can say seasonic is fantastic and corsair sucks all you want but if you don't know why then all you are doing is being a fan boy. Plenty of other OEMs out there like Delta, Superflower, CWT (to name a few) that can build platforms just as good (or better).

I've owned tree CWT units, three seasonic, and one delta. Only units I ever had an issue with were two seasonic, doesn't mean seasonic is bad just means they are not the end all be all to PSU.

Thats because the only good Corsairs are actually Seasonics or Flextronics. Most Corsairs (65% ish) are made by Channel Well, Chinese capacitors have nothing on all jap cap solutions.

If this is a straight up video editing rig. Ditch the 780ti, and either get a firepro or quaddro. If its going to be a mix, I think the better mix of the two would be the 780 8gb card. Titan black would be ideal if this was a dual gaming/rendering rig. Else looks great.

Agree with seasonic, otherwise evga makes some good ones to. Corsair makes some good ones, but some bad ones. Not sure on either, so I just avoid them.

who says I have chinese caps in my PSU? Don't try to change the subject which is you are an idiot fan boy who knows nothing about PSU other then what is inside his own PC. You justify your purchase by waving your brands flag but lack the intelligence to even know what makes a PSU work. You would not last a day on a PSU web site like jonnyguru as the entire forum would see right through you.

facts like what, can you even list one?

corsair HX850 (CWT platform) review by the two leading PSU review sites (at the time, HS has since stopped)

jonnyguru - 9.4
The Good:

easily passed Gold efficiency in the hot box
excellent ripple control
excellent overall voltage stability
tons of modular cables
The Bad:

initial cost is looking a mite on the high side
The Mediocre:

Nut & Honey, er, nuttin' honey

HS - Gold Award
http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/Corsair-HX850-Go...

guess those "facts" prove that even above "HX 750" corsair does not "suck". Guess that also proves you don't know what you are talking about.
