Hello.
I have an acer aspire 5349 laptop, today i changed cooler, the d one was noisy and giving a lot of heat.
This one was running great, quiet and no problem. I thought i could download some soft with ehich I coulf regulate fan's rpm. I downloaded speedfan from their page. Installed, opened it was loading and then laptop just shat down. I was turning it on and it again did shut down. It shat down right at the "windows is loading" screen didnt even the logo showed up. After few tries i went into BIOS-shat down. Managed to change boot device priority to USB. Then i thought I could install a fresh system. "Windows is loading files" and then shat down... Is there anything I could do?! Is it a viruss? If it is, how could it shut down in BIOS? Maybe the soft blocked fan and cpu overheats which I highly doubt. Halp.

Have you tried loading the optimised defaults in your BIOS? Can you get into the BIOS long enough to check temperatures at least? Just because it was working for a little while doesn't mean there isn't now a problem with the cooler I'm afraid.

Its cooler. Its old laptop. Mobo doesnt rly have any choice in it. All i can do there is change boot priority and more something and thats it. Cooler is completely quiet. I read that I should reset Mobo. How can I do it? I just looked up and I cant reset Mobo via Mobo. :(

Then I'm afraid I'm out of ideas. If there is no option to load default settings in your BIOS the only thing left I can suggest is something that almost never works!

Turn off the laptop
Unplug from the wall and remove the battery
Hold down the power button for 30s
Reassemble and test

Good luck!

Haha, forgot to tell that battery holds only for 5secs. Haha. Tomorrow I will reset bios by removing that small battery on mobo.. Hope it works ;3 if that does not do the thing, i will try the old cooler.

If you follow the steps I posted it should have a similar effect to removing the CMOS battery without taking the laptop to bits again. The battery life isn't important, you just need to remove any source of power however tiny.

If you remove the CMOS battery tomorrow make sure you leave it out for a couple of hours as I've found the capacitors on the motherboard can hold a charge for quite a long time!
