So my computer with 8.1 was working fine until I got some updates (not sure if there were new updates). Now it just shows a black screen with a cursor. This is the second time this has happened to that computer. The first time I just reinstalled W8.1. The same thing happens when I try to boot into safe mode, though it does briefly flash safe mode in the corners in the beginning. When I try to access cmd through advanced repair options, it shows as X:\windows\system32, can't cd to C: either.

Anyway to fix this?

With the UEFI BIOS and Windows 8/8.1 it makes it such a pain in the a$$ to do troubleshooting, especially when you can't boot to Windows. Did you try running a chkdsk through the dos prompt in Advanced Repair, or an SFC scan?

Here are the results of sfc /scannow and chkdsk. The first sentence is from the SFC Scan which is the same thing I got from trying to do a SFC Scan last time. Restarting doesn't do anything. The rest is from chkdsk.

Ran that for like 3 hrs, still didn't fix it. Just ended up reinstalling W8.1 again. Thanks for the help.
