I have recently got new broadband with virgin. I am using a virgin super hub 2 which allows for 5ghz internet aswell as 2ghz internet. my laptop a compaq Presario cq57 and also my phone a samsung galaxy ace 3 cannot pickup the 5ghz and will only pick up the 2ghz internet which suffers from many problems such as an 'unstable internet connection' and also keeps stopping and starting, going off, or going into limited access. can anybody help me or explain to me why I cant pick up 5ghz internet connection as my dad who has a much older laptop can get the 5ghz internet connection and my brorther's samsung s3 does pick up the 5ghz internet connection.

thank you very much

It is, internal or external, but hard to find ones which work at 5ghz.

I am on a laptop windows 10 with a tp-link adaptor. Had the same problem not being able to get 5g or it is not displaying when you click on wifi icon to select my router only getting my 2.5. Clicked in wifi and my 5g was not listed just went to the top and clicked on the the wifi drop down and there was an option for wifi2 to select, so set it at wifi2 and it displayed all the 5g,s out there and there was mine, had to put my password back in tested it with a broadband tester and speed was back and I was back on 5g. I have to say before this problem I used to get both options displayed as a choice 2.5 and 5g to select didn't need to isolate choice to wifi 2, don't know what changed. Hope this is a fix for some people.
