Ok so I just assembled my first pc with hardly any difficulty
But when I turn it on, all the fans, front panel lights and hard drive come on, and stay on, but all that happens on screen is that the motherboard logo (gigabyte) flashes up, but then nothing else!?!

What could be the problem?

Btw I am using an APU, the athlon 5350, so no graphics card

Thanks in advance! :)

Solution

Honestly I think an I/O device is not hooked up properly or is defective which is causing the BIOS to hang. After you breadboard it be sure to Clear CMOS.

What is an I/O device? The monitor?

Input/Output. Monitor is output (unless it's a touchscreen then it's both). I'm talking about anything optional that gets plugged into the mobo. This is why I want you to strip it down, so you can eliminate possibilities.

Ok so I breadboarded,
I just has the CPU/APU, the HSF the PSU and the mobo
With this, the "no video detected" sign did not even go.
And repeating short beeps came from the mobo speaker.
I have gigabytes UEFI BIOS, what is the problem?

Thanks

Try one stick of RAM.

I am aware of that yes. But also I have just noticed something. When I turn the pc on, the HSF spins up for a second, before stopping for about 3 seconds, before starting again. Could this b the problem? And if so how can it be fixed?

The heat sink fan isn't the problem. You might not run gta 5 without it, but you could definitely post without it. Forget that as an issue. It is inconsequential at this point.

I would start completely over. It is amazing how this simple idea can fix a beginner issue. Make sure that when you screw in your motherboard to the case properly that there are not any shorts. that the back of the board doesn't contact with any spilled screws or to the case. After I install a motherboard i still shake the case just to make sure i hear any loose "things".

It should post with the psu, cpu, and a stick of ram plugged in to the mobo. Make sure everything is seated correctly, especially the ram.
