As the title indicates I'd like to find a card worthy of being called an upgrade for the my EVGA GTX 670 while being able to have the following...

-Lower overall wattage / heat
-Good cost / performance advantage
-4 GB memory
-Can easily fit inside a Corsair 250D ITX case /w Corsair 550 Watt PSU
-Dependable
-Great software / mfr. support

Normally I'm no slouch when it comes to computers but for the life of me I've yet to be convinced of some of the latest video card offerings. Much of what I've seen so far, wouldn't be that much of an improvement over the 670 but yet cost $350 or more. I feel as if there isn't an offering that's capable of replacing the 670 (cost benefit) but realize that potentially it's my systems single greatest point of failure, considering the 670's about 3 years old at this point.

Would anyone have any advice towards this end?

Also does EVGA do trade-in's for V-cards like mine?

Thank you in advance

Your 550w psu is the limiter.
You can probably run a GTX770, but that is not a big enough upgrade, and you will be disappointed if you don't see some big results. Possibly even a GTX780 which needs 42a.

Your case is big enough to handle even a GTX780ti, but that takes more like 620w.

If you bought the EVGA670 within the last 90 days, you are probably eligible for their trade up program.
