Right now I'm leaning towards the pea size drop method but I notice it doesn't cover the cpu 100 percent and wanted to know of it should and also the paste is called cool master thermal paste kit

Opinions vary.
Some say a small drop, others say a thin line, still others say a credit card to smear all over.

All probably work ok.

I favor a small drop in the middle which will spread under heat and pressure. It is hard to use too little.
A common mistake is to use too much. Paste is an insulator, it only needs to fill in small microscopic pits in the mating surfaces. If the result is idle temperatures in the 10-15c. range over ambient, you have probably done ok.

no.

A small drop in the middle will spread by itself.

The reason that is good is that the spreading will not have any air bubbles which are bad.

When you use the credit card spread method, the results are not as predictable.

If you take off the cpu later, you will see a round smear that covers perhaps 2/3 of the cpu.
If the paste overflows the cpu, you will have used too much and perhaps cause a problem if the paste is electrically conductive.
