Hi all,

I recently purchased a TL-WR1043ND, my ISP is Comcast, when connected with security disabled, I get 57mbps down. From the same distance, with WPA2 and AES, I get in the 30mbps range. I'd understand a drop with security, but don't feel anything of this magnitude.
I've updated the firmware, tried changing channel width to 20 or 40 mhz. Tried different channels and most changes actually reduce my wireless speed.

Any suggestions?

The security is never an issue. It is used only for authentication purposes while connecting to the connection! Try again and check other settings of the router.
And recheck the speed through speedtest.net while connecting exactly one device in both the situations.

Most of the time WPA2 with AES is best, but on a few devices it causes problems. Try changing to WPA2 with TPIK and see if that makes a difference.
