I know these are really common from my five minutes of looking through the Computer Peripherals threads, so I'll try to be as specific as possible.

I play several FPSs (mainly TF2) and have a really crappy mouse, so I'm looking to get a new one but cannot come to a conclusion. I switch a lot between classes, so I need to be able to snipe as well as twitch aim large distances whilst speeding through the map, so I'm imagining that variable mouse sensitivity would be helpful.

I've done a bit of browsing around and heard great things about Razer stuff (DeathAdder in particular), the Logitech G series and the Mad Catz R.A.T. series, but I'm not sure what would best fit my needs.

As far as price goes, I don't have anything specific in mind at the moment, but I will probably go for things on the lower end, where possible ($40-$50). However, I'm not discounting anything yet.

I am a righty, so there is no need for left/ambidextrous mice, and I don't really have a set way of gripping the mouse (whatever works).

Suggestions much appreciated.

Razer Deathadder. I have it and it's the best mouse I have ever had. It is extremely comfortable and it doesn't have a bunch buttons all over it.

In my opinion the DeathAdder is overrated as I have had it before. In my opinion the best fps mouse is the Mionix Naos 8200. I have 700 hours on tf2 and have no problem playing with this mouse. You can snag a used one for 55 here, and there isnt really a difference most of the time between the used an new except for a minor scratch or two.

Haha I guess my comment was a little biased since my keyboard, mouse and earbuds are all razer.

I've owned many razer peripherals and have found their quality to go downhill IMO. Corsair, Steel Series, Logitech is decent.

I know Mionix mice are high quality. My dad has one for work and he says its really comfortable and doesn't feel cheap at all. I've never used it but he's used a lot of mice and he says it's his favorite mouse

my personal mouse of choice is the razer deathadder 3.5g which is one of the older versions. it fits my requirements perfectly for a large mouse since it allows me to grasp the mouse by the bottom of the sides to move it around and hang my palm off the back of it perfectly and is comfortable to do this for hours on end. as far as performance is concerned it has done well and the two side buttons is typically enough for most tasks.

i recently tried out the logitech proteus and i have to say that it had a fairly good shape and the buttons were all in a good place. my issue with it and the reason for returning it was because it was not wide enough for my handes which caused my pinky and ringfinger to curl inwards which caused me pain after awhile. however for smaller hands it would be almost perfect. my other beef with the design is the crappy scrollwheel. logitech has this "hyperscroll" wheel on all of its designs nowdays which blows for gaming. the proteus has a button you can click to make the mouse wheel clicking again but it really is only so good.

the zowie ec1 evo is similar to the deathadder in size and shape.

the steelseries sensei is a good deathadder alternate as well.

the roccat kone is a different shape but is also a very popular choice.

the corsair m65 is fine for fingertip grip or or non-palm gripping and is a fairly popular choice.

perhaps a few photos showing size comparisions.

I had been using only Razer mice for the past few years. Bought the Logitech G502 Proteus Core and it's the best mouse I've ever had.
