APU vs. regular CPU

Hi. I am confused. Does AMD at all claim that the graphics component of their APUs do as much work as the normal graphics cards? Are the APUs simply a cheaper way to display graphics on casual performance users? Also, do the APUs typically work along side the graphics cards in most casual PC users? Do the APUs do graphics computations with the graphics cards installed along with them, and if so, does it do gamers any good?

I have installed a few a10-7850k chips and they are excellent if gotten for a good price. 129 bucks at microcenter i was able to play bf4 at low settings at decent fps. and most games played great at 720p. and ok at 1080p. If the chip costs more than 150 it would be better to get a cpu discrete combo. otherwise the apu is excellent for 720p gaming and will allow some 1080p gaming.

Solution
APUS are basically CPU+GPU in one chip, their advantages are budget only. They are excellent budget gamers, and also with the new HSA support able to process faster than your typical i5, via cpu + GPU doing what only the CPU would do. However, HSA is not introduced yet.

You can add a graphics card to it but what's the point of buying an APU if your going to use a graphics card with it.
 
Almost all dedicated gpu will out perform APUs. APU is for low budget gaming system at 720p mostly. For some people, it might be cheaper for them that way. For normal non-gaming uses, an APU might be ideal.
A FX 6300 /Intel i5 with a GTX 750Ti will beat a APU system.
If you use a gpu, the integrated graphics on the APU is disabled normally.
