I am running a FX-6300 on a MSI 970a G43 at stock speeds. I recently read a lot of horror stories about this board, and I'm hesitant to even use my computer because I don't want the board to go bad and take other parts with it. I have no plans to overclock and I do a lot of gaming. Should I be worried?

The board is fine, every piece of hardward can fail, but dont let that stop you. I have that exact board in an AMD test bench I have been running for the last 7 months with no issues.

Are you running an eight core on that rig?

That AMD 6300 is not truly an "8 core", that is AMD lingo. I have a FX 4100 in my test setup.

I didn't mean to say the 6300 was an eight core. I was just wondering because MSI actually took all 8000 series processors off the supported cpu's list because they made the mobo overheat.

If you are not overclocking you can monitor your CPU temps rountinely with something like Coretemp. If you are that nervous, you could purchase another motherboard which may or may not require you to buy another copy of Windows.

The board has a poor power and thermal design , a FX6300 not being overclocked should be fine.

Those board should never be paired with a 8320 or 8350.

The G43 , G45 , G46 all have poor thermal designs and should never be paired with a 8 core like the 8320 or 8350.
