overclocking a core i5 2500k

i have core i5 2500k , gigabyte p61 mobo and cooler master 212 evo (cpu cooler)



it was 65-79 c before using the cooler
whats the recommended voltage and speed to overclock to ?

First things first, overclocking is never an exact science and your results will differ from everyone else's. That said, I have almost the exact same components, so here are my results to give you a head start:

4.0Ghz - 1.20V
4.2Ghz - 1.22V
4.4Ghz - 1.245V

How far you can push the overclock also depends on the ambient temperature. If it's 30C, the computer will be sucking in 30C air, so you immediately have less overclocking headroom than if the ambient temperature was 20C.

thanks alot my fan speed is deafult , i can speed it up and move my desktop to another room has an ac . i live in very hot country though

Ah, I didn't notice the P61, my mind read it as P67.

I've based my figures on a P67 board with an adjusted CPU multiplier, so they may not have any use whatsoever. If you can't adjust the multiplier, you can only overclock using the old BCLK method, which isn't ideal.
