Yesterday my usb 2.0 ports stopped working. I tried;
- Uninstalling devices
- Defaults on BIOS
- Hard CMOS Reset
- Installing Drivers
...

Nothing works. I have gone through lots of threads and I saw most of them solved with people installing their drivers. However I am not exactly sure that I am installing the correct drivers.

System Restore is not possible because I did not take a backup for a long time.

Motherboard: asus m5a97 le r2.0
OS: Windows 8.1
Processor: AMD fx8320

As you can see my 2xUSB 3.0 ports are working fine but all of 2.0 ports are not working including front.

About the drivers, I couldnt find any usb2.0 spesific drivers but I tried the whole utility package and USB3.0 driver from http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M5A97_LE_R20/HelpDesk_... . If there is anything I missed please direct me to it.

Thanks in advance.

Maybe its the PC gods telling you its time to get a better motherboard.

Did you download and install the asmedia usb3.0 chip drivers for your OS?

I have installed asmedia usb3.0 chip drivers however no change. I am not sure those drivers cover usb2.0 hubs as well.

I think they're USB3.0 only. Maube usb2.0 is part of the chipset.

The mobo speecs say

USB Ports
ASMedia® USB 3.0 controller : 2 x USB 3.0/2.0 port(s) (2 at back panel, blue)
AMD SB950 controller : 12 x USB 2.0/1.1 port(s) (6 at back panel, black, 6 at mid-board)
when I search for the sb950, I get to http://www.amd.com/en-us/products/chipsets/9-series - looks like it is part of the chipset

Maybe try latest bios "Enhance compatibility with some USB device."

Okay I can confirm that USB2.0 hubs works properly inside BIOS. So, there is no damage on the hardware. Its definitely a driver issue.

I am trying that BIOS update now.

Okay, I had another installation of win8.1 on another hard drive. That didnt have any issues with USB at all. Seems like my drivers corrupted. Is there any program you can suggest to help me remove USB drivers complately ?

The usb drivers are part of bios for the sb950 chip. Got a bios virus?

I think you'll need to use the adapter or get a new mobo.
