Hi There,

I tried to overclock my 7870DD, but soon realized that I will have to increase the voltage for the better results. First tried with SapphireTrixx. Then with MSI Afterburtner - I tried several tricks to enable the voltage slider ( with cfg and registry ) but no luck. After googling I found that my card voltage's are locked by the vendor ( Never again XFX.... ). I tried several other bios-es which should fit to my card ( from here ), but none of them actually unlocked the voltages.

So, folks, does anybody have any experience overclocking that card? Or may you recommend me a bios for 7870 manufactured from other vendors ( Asus, HIS, MSI whatever ) which has unlocked voltages?

Thanks in advance
Kalin

IF your GPU has locked voltage then there is not a huge benefit from modding the BIOS, that is the risks involved fro the performance gains that can be achieved with a Radeon HD 7800 series GPU. Voltage lock is not always a bad thing as not every processor is going to hit higher frequencies. But there is that sense that your GPU was prematurely neutered....Nvidia's Entire Kelper Architecture is Locked.
Note: MSI afterburner has options to unlock voltage control usually found in settings if you have not already looked.
