Ive just recieved my new system.

I5 4690 at 3.5ghz
corsair 2x4gb 1600mhz
gtx760
corsair 500w CX500M
Z97 Guard-pro motherboard
NZXT h440 case
running on win 8.1. I was running a game of league and I noticed small fps drops, ran 3d mark and got absolutly HORRIBLE scores on physics. Checked core temperature and noticed my cpu is sitting at 64°celcius IDLE... Pc is supposedly build by professionals. Anything about my setup that could justify this and/or steps I should take to make sure it doesnt just burn trough my desk when I make it perform actual tasks? Thanks in advance if you read so far.

A CPU cooler is adviced. 64C is the temp for that CPU with considerably high load, so those temps at idle are just not done. A Hyper EVO 212 is the best budget friendly one and will lower those by 5-10C. What's your room temp?
I don't know why any pro would include 500W CX in such a system, no professionalism there.

What would be a good idle temperature for this cpu? Room temperature around 20°.

And as a followup question. Would it be wise to let professionals install better cooler or can someone with basic understanding of hardware and a good guide get that done?

Idle temp should be in 30-40C range, that temp (64C idle in your system) is of full load in normal 4690s.

Ok thank you for your time and help. I have the answer to my problem and its my stupidity. Obviously my standard cooling is waaay insufficient and Ill have to upgrade it asap.

Week later, installed 25 euro cooler, idle temp dropped to 25-30°, performance way up.
