I need to put together a 4-monitor extended desktop setup for non-gaming purposes. All 4 monitors are supposed to display at 1920X1080. Any suggestions as to what motherboard/graphics card combination would be the cheapest and still be the best solution to my needs.

This is my precise requirement: for a research project in human cognition and learning we want need to display 16 pdf pages(4 pages per monitor) at once for a single second to our research subjects.

I've been told the optimal solution would be a combination of :
(i) a MoBo with integrated graphics having two monitor-ports, and,
(ii)an add-on PCIE graphics card having two monitor ports.

I need to know whether such a configuration( viz. 2 monitors plugged to the integrated graphics card and another 2 monitors plugged into the other graphics card) would work and will it be economically viable.
If yes, what MoBo/Graphics card combination would you recommend?
If no, what are my other options?

GTX 760 is a really nice gaming graphics card and does support 4 monitors. Since my requirements are much modest (16 pdfs to be displayed over 4 monitors), and moreover as I'd like to save up on money could you suggest a cheaper solution?

Will the MoBo/Graphics combination as I mentioned in my original post work?

If yes, what MoBo/Graphics card combination would you recommend? I presume such a setup would cost much less than going for GTX760

Thanks a lot for your quick response. :)

I don't think you can have both tge integrated gpu and dedicated on at same time
Well, if that's the case, I presume I don't have much of a choice in this regard and would be forced to go with a plain vanilla MoBo coupled with a GTX 760 (or whatever cheapest Graphics Card that supports 4 monitors I can lay my hands upon). As of now, I'm unaware of any MoBo supporting 4 displays(through Extended Desktop) from the dedicated graphics itself and ordering a gaming graphics card seems to be a bit of an overkill.

To put things into perspective, I'm an undergrad student from India and have to fund my research without any research-grant from my university. It won't be very difficult for you to comprehend the financial constraints I'm in.

what cpu do you have?

I don't have a desktop right now. I'm not even someone "into computers". I'll be building it for the said research purpose. I'd go for a core i3 or a core i5. Do you have any suggestions regarding my requirements and constraints?

P.S.- Kindly read my original post again as I edited it while you were posting your first response. Thanks again for your kind advices. :)
