Hello all,

Two days ago I bought a "new" Toshiba Satllite L50-A-18T with Windows 8.1 pre installed.
It is my first Windows 8 system and things didn't start ok.

After a lot of updates one failed taking a lot of time to go and to roll back. Mean while, although being logged as admin I could not make activation and no message was neither displayed.

I tried the activation several times but nothing happened and Windows status kept Not Activated.

Also I tried more then a couple times to make the updates without success even after system restore.

Although kept saying my self to give Windows 8 a chance :) after 12 hours I gave up and decided I was going the format way, and since the hd had only a single 500GB partition I would repartition the disk also.

First mistake: I didn't review the new OS specs and took for granted that although the paradigm differences, things wouldn't be so different from Windows 7 regarding installation.

So I might have end up disregarding important UEFI and file systems requirements.

Carrying on. The big problem arrived when full cleaning the system from within Windows and restore it from Recovery Disks provided with the Laptop.

After more than an hour of formatting I made the second mistake, which was to replace the Recovery disk by a Windows 7 install disk after that moment on I have got only the message::

"Reboot and select proper Boot device
Or insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key"

No Dvd or flash pen is recognized and the only prompt is the above message.

I have tried to access the bios utility but no keys seems to work and all that happens is the message being repeated every time a key is pressed.

I thought I would over come this with Usb pen with a Iso burned with ISO2Disc but the result is the same message and no boot from peripherals is actually possible.

I apologize for this long text and will appreciate any tip on how to access the bios under these circumstances as to change the boot order and provide a valid boot device..

Solution
To much talk and after reading a lot more found out that keeping pressed F2 key while powering on will bring up the desired bios setup utility. So easy :/
Changed boot device order and install is already running.
