Would there be much of a performance increase going to a 990 chipset Motherboard or just sticking with my current M5A97R2.0. I overclock a bit, but I do not plan on using Crossfire.
Any advantages going to 990 ? Specs are in my sig.
Thanks in advance.

The 990 chipset is going to be much better for overclocking (most 990FX boards have 8+2 power phases as opposed to the M5A97 R2.0 having 4+2), and allow an SLI setup. I'm currently using the M5A97 R2.0 as well but I can't get much of an overclock with it.

Given a choice when buying, I'd go for the 990 or the Gigabyte 970 with the 8+2. However, as you already *have* your current motherboard, I'm not sure the marginal gains are really worth the upgrade.
