PC constant freezing

I bought a new HDD about 2 months ago. Now i hear constant "clicks" and then my PC freezes..but cursor can still move. I am not sure if that HDD i bought is bad..or there are other sources of issues & errors. Please provide me with information on all of those. Thank you in advance.

Boot the computer into Safe Mode with Command Prompt and run chkdsk C: and see if it shows bad sectors.

Mash F8 at computer startup to get the Advanced Startup Options screen.
