Hi,

Asus R9280X-DC2T-3GD5 1070MHz 3GB GDDR 5 PCI Express Graphics Card

VS

MSI GeForce GTX 770 Twin Frozr Gaming Edition Graphics Card - 2GB

HI,

I was thinking of buying a new graphics card, I came across these two graphic cars. The thing is they are about the same price (I will leave the links below). Radeon is 3gb and nvidia is 2gb. I've heard that nvidia will perform better at ultra hight settings. And I also heard that Radeon isnt reliable. I think R280X 3gb might be better than gtx 770. So I would like to hear your oppinions on which one to buy. At the moment I am using core i5 4670k integrated graphics.

My PC specs are :

Asrock z87 extreme4
Core i5 4670k (with cooler master hyper evo)
Vengence 8GB (2x4) RAM ddr3
Corsair 650M PSU
1TB HDD hitachi
Cooler Master n600

Thanks you in advanced.

*Edit: are both of these cards compatible with my motherboard?

Both cards are compatible with your motherboard. The GTX 770 and r9 280x are very close performance wise. They trade blows from game to game. The r9 280x is the better deal since they can be found for less than $300 and the GTX770 is usually around $300-400 depending on what model you choose. I would recommend saving the money and going for the 280x. Here is a good one for a deal: http://www.ncixus.com/products/?sku=94043&vpn=CGAX%2DR928X7&manufacture=Club3D&promoid=1046 I was pretty surprised to see one this cheap actually.

I run a 7970 or r9 280x and have had no issues. I also have a 7950 or a r9 280 as well. I haven't even ran into any crossfire issues honestly. In some games it works really good, and in others I only get a...

In some games it works really good, and in others I only get a little increase. Usually AMD releases 0-day beta drivers for any AAA games that come out, which I really like.

EDIT: I guess the prices on the GTX 770 are FINALLY dropping. Here is one under $300 if you would rather an Nvidia card: http://www.ncixus.com/products/?sku=84049&vpn=GV%2DN770OC%2D4GD&manufacture=Gigabyte&promoid=1046

Both cards have free shipping and no mail in rebates to worry about. ;)

Make sure you have a case to fit those AMD monsters and a powerful PSU. They are better bang for your buck, but have more power draw and tend to be HUGE for some reason. The debate is really stupid at this point some games are optimized for Nvidia others for AMD, similar performance across both brands in the high, mid and low tier.

My case has 430mm/16.9" spacing for graphics card, and AMD is 270mm. and gtx770 is 260mm :) and psu is 650W and I think that is enough

YEah, I didn't look at your 770 EVGA makes short cards, My case is small, I literally had to go with Nvidia because they have small cards even for high end nvidia cards.
