Hi guys right around 2 months ago my computer started to have various bsod(during playing games mainly) until it got to the point windows didnt boot up at all .
I took my computer to the computer store so they could tell me what the problem with the computer was ,1 week later they say my computer is fixed and it was an issue with the motherboard and they had to Hard Reset it .
3 weeks later after using the computer i start having the same exact problems and i take it to the store once again , 3 days later they tell me the computer is fixed and the only thing they had to do was do a Hard Reset to the motherboard , i asked them if the "Hard Reset" they are telling me is just take out the cmos battery wait for a bit and put it right on again , as they told me it isnt .

So if someone could tell me what a Hard Reset is and tell me how it is done so i could confront them since a 3 week solution isnt the right solution at all .
Btw my motherboard is a Asus P8Z68-V Lx

Im sorry for my bad english im not a native english speaker .

"Hard reset" can mean anything - to me it means clearing the CMOS and flashing the BIOS, but the next guy over might consider it unplugging the PSU, or something else.

There are a number of things that might be causing the BSODs and a number of possible remedies, most of which you can do yourself. Clearly resetting the CMOS was not a permanent solution. If you're interested in giving it a try, let us know and we can walk you through the diagnostic process.

Exactly thats why i want to know what they mean by Hard Resetting the motherboard because people usually call a motherboard hard reset when u take out the cmos and put it on again.

Also my specs are :
Intel i3 2120 3.3ghz 3mb
Asus P8Z68-V Lx
2x4gb Team elite ddr3 1333mhz
Gigabyte gtx560 ti 1gb ddr5
Corsair GS600

Outside of playing games, is there any particular program, application, or activity that causes BSODs, or is it just random?

If you can download and run HWMonitor, capture a screenshot of it while your computer is at idle, and one while it's under load (preferably during a game) and post them here. Let me know if you need instructions for how to screenshot or post pics.

You can also download and run Sea Tools, which will test your hard drive, and MemTest 86 which will test your memory. If you get any failures or error reports on either test, let us know.

Last, if you can tell us what version of BIOS you're running, that would be helpful also. Hit the "DEL" key while your system is posting to get into BIOS - the BIOS version should be listed somewhere on the main menu page.

Im not at home today so i can only do it tomorrow but i have done all of those things before my computer went to repair .
Also i missclicked and clicked on your awnser as the "Best Solution" <.<

Okay, I unselected best answer for you. You didn't actually ask for help with diagnostics - I threw those steps in just assuming you wanted the help. If you do, in fact, want help, it'll help if you give us details on what you've already done.

If not, can we assume that you got the answer you needed?

FYI, I did some more looking and as I said earlier there are many different definitions of a mobo "hard reset". The best one I've seen involves removing all power sources, drives, accessories, peripherals, etc, discharging the mobo capacitors by holding the power button down for 15 seconds or more, AND clearing the CMOS.

So im going to say something i shoulda have on the first post .

When my BSOD started they would only be while i was playing games and/or watchin a 1080p video so i assumed it was a video card problem , so i switched it for my old videocard that was working fine.
My computer worked for about 2 months until i started to get bsod more and more frequently when it got to the point the computer wouldnt even boot and would even crash while on BIOS , i took it to the store and i asked them to fix my computer and also to check if my videocard (1st one) was actualy dead , once i get my pc back they said they did the "hard reset" to the motherboard and there wasnt a single problem with a videocard even though when my computer started to bluescreen while in-game(first time before i ever took it to the store) i did everything i could (I stress tested my CPU , did memtest on both rams and then 1 ram at a time , run seagate tool looking for errors on the HDD (got none),cleared the cmos) but when i finaly stress tested my GPU it would bluescreen me thats why i was very suspicious when it came the first time from the computer store because they said the videocard was working and for my amazement it actualy worked for about 1 week without a single bsod . After that i kept getting bsod and had to switch back to my old videocard and 3 weeks later i got the exact same problem as i did before . So either i have a retardadly complex problem (i doubt it) or the store who is taking care of it is awful.
