My Amd FX 8320 fan has been spinning very fast and loud. I recently upgraded my motherboard GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 AM3+ AMD 990FX + SB950 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...) and have all the bios settings for all my CPU settings set to auto. So I think that's why my cpu has been running hot ( also I'm still using the stock cpu cooler) and why the core speed has been bouncing 1.4GHz to 3.7GHz.. But also i haven't reapplied any new thermal paste and the paste is about a year old. So maybe the heat is having a hard time transferring from the CPU to the heatsink.

But I'm not entirely sure whats the culprit is, and I would like to see if you guys could help me save my CPU from melting.

If you switched motherboards moving the CPU to the new motherboard would have caused air pockets to form from the old thermal paste. Which is bad. Anytime that a CPU's Heatsink is removed the old thermal paste should be cleaned off the CPU and Heatsink and new thermal paste should be applied.

Please, the fx series are meant to run hot, buy atleast a hyper tx3 to keep it cool at stock clocks. If you want mild overclocking, get the hyper 212 evo cooler. The FX series on stock coolers and with dried thermal paste are a danger not only to themselves, but also to the mobo.
Here's the link to a hyper tx3: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... Costs only 15 bucks and will keep your CPU perfectly cool at stock speeds.
http://www.outletpc.com/hn6355.html?utm_source=hn6355&u... This is the hyper 212 evo. It costs only 30 bucks. And it's performance for that price is legendary. It will keep your chip cool at 4-4.4 Ghz.
