I am experiencing a periodic Display abnormality. The monitor is a Yamakasi Perfect Pixel Black Label (QH2711) AH-IPS. The display will be rock solid for days and then start flickering (while displaying input menu). If it stabalizes, it will shrink horizontally to a size smaller than the full display area (~1920x1440 vs. 2560x1440). Cycling power to the monitor sometimes works to reestablish the picture. Full system reboot sometimes works as well. However, neither will always be effective. The on sceen controls will also not always reestabish the picture.

The monitor is plugged into a UPS with surge protection The same problem occurs whether input is DVI or HDMI. The video card is a GeForce GT 640 2GB 128-Bit DDR3. I run both Windows 8.1 and Linux Mint 17.0. The monitor's behaviour is the same under both OSs.

Has anyone else experienced this?
Does anyone have an idea of what the problem may be?
Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.
