Slow HDD death after moving computer.

So... I recently cleaned my GPU radiator and upon plugging everything back in, I found that the computer became unusably laggy. Deciding that it was one of the times when correlation does equal causation, I assumed that I had somehow buggered up my GPU (I made a thread about it a couple of days ago).

Well, after another BSOD, followed by a five stage CHKDSK which froze at the last stage (which according to the Internet, apparently means that the HDD was in someway damaged), I called the drive dead, and decided to load the backup drive instead. The backup drive (which is running right now) runs just as good as it always has been, and it seems as though I can access all the data from the OTHER drive as if it was just fine.

So, my questions are these: Why did mine die slowly by lag which lead to a frozen CHKDSK, and why can I access its' contents? Also, is it in anyway possible to revive it, or should I just call it dead for good and leave it at that?

I am well aware of what an HDD is, and I handled it just as delicately as I always have.
