the title says it all... im looking for a 1440p monitor around $200 -$250. I currently have a 1080p 60hz asus. I currently have one evga 2gb gtx 770 and I already have second one waiting to be put in. I understand that the 2gb vram might be a problem, if so should i even bother upgrading to 1440p?
On another similar note, I was wondering how much a performance hit would i take if i upgraded resolution?10%20%30%??? Thanks for reading and answering

you can grab a korean version for around $280, I went to a 1440p from 1920X1200 and I didn't notice that large of a performance hit because it allows you to turn you anti-aliasing down or completely off which helps performance out. I would say your looking at maybe a 10% performance hit depending on which game you are playing.

Since you already have a 770 I think SLI is going to be your best bet for a performance increase even with the limited VRAM.

It'd take another couple of years before 2k comes at those prices. Currently they're atleast $100 higher than your upper limit. SLI 770 would probably be an overkill for single FHD. How about getting a mermerizing experience with 3 FHD setup? You can get 2 FHDs in the price of single 2k. And you already own 1 FHD.
Taking 2k into consideration, SLI 770 would be rather comfortable on Ultra with a respectable ~50 FPS. 2GB VRAM is not great but enough.
Performance wise, expect atleast 20% hit. It'll be like 60+ FPS on FHD on every setting maxed out and 50 FPS on Ultra on moderate AA and other stuff on 2k.

When 4K is going to more affordable then 1440p will be. There is no reason to get it then because it will be like 1080p now and 4k is going to be the big thing. I would say 4k monitors are getting cheaper so in like a year or 1.5 lots of people will be switching to higher resolutions.
