Worth upgrading to windows 8 for better dual-monitor support?

So I've recently gotten another monitor and noticed that windows 7 doesn't exactly have the best integrated support.

I saw Windows 8/8.1 had better support for the taskbar straight away, so I was wondering if there are any other features that it has built in. If so, what are they, and is it worth upgrading despite the horrible 'metro UI'.

If you're going to be gaming, then Windows 8.1 has much better gaming performance and compatibility. Also DirectX 12 is only going to be for Windows 8+ which means something big for the gamers. Also dual monitor gaming is great. But if you're going to upgrade to Windows 8/8.1 only for dual monitor support, then its not worth it.
