Hello, I was hoping to find out which of these two monitors is better for gaming. I can spend max $200 on a monitor but I was hoping to stay closer to $150. I would rather have a 21" monitor with great picture than a 27" monitor with good picture. The display size doesn't make a difference to me. After a lot of research these are the two I narrowed it down to.

Monitor 1) VX238H http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Monitor 2) VE248H http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Thanks!

Both TN panels, both very good response times, and the expected viewing angles for a TN.

23" 1ms GTG only has VGA and HDMI, not a lot of choices.

24" 2ms GTG has VGA, HDMI, and one Display Port which gives you two modern options.

Only real difference is the size and the response time. If you want a slightly better gaming experience the 23", for a little bigger screen the 24"

I have a 27" 2ms GTG ASUS monitor, still working for me.

Monitor 1 has a 80,000,000:1 contrast ratio and Monitor 2 has an ASCR 10,000,000:1 contrast ratio. Do you know the difference between these? Is one better than the other?

Contrast ratios are a bit of a mystery. They almost never tell you what method they used when measuring and they use different techniques for different types of displays. Attempting to use them as a comparison is very difficult.

There are a few monitor reviews on Tom's that might give you some more information.
