I recently bought a samsung ssd and installed windows 8.1 pro on it. Everything went just fine except my media backup that was setup in a raid 1 in windows doesnt show up and in the storage snap-in it says it has failed. The raid1 setup is 2 hdd. I have another hdd for regular storage like video games etc. The SSD just has my OS and a couple of commonly used programs.

How can I get my array back without losing the information on the disks?

I haven't tried anything out of fear of messing them up more than they are.

What controller was used to create the raid? Motherbd chipset (if so what motherbd)? Windows? Dedicated rad controller?

Have you installed the raid drivers for either motherbd chipset raid or a dedicated raid controller?

Actually I wonder if you have motherbd raid but put the sata controller back into AHCI mode for the windows install...

The problem actually resolved itself.... I restarted to take care of some other stuff and after some other unrelated driver updates etc things just magically lined up. Thanks for the quick response popatim and sorry for my slow response.

On my mobo when I restarted I did reset the bios and set everything again. The settings didnt change from what I had them before but figured a reset couldnt hurt.

For my setup its just ahci through the bios and then mirror raid setup through windows. No controllers or anything. I have a sabertooth x58 which will let me setup raid through it but I heard the marvell controller isnt very reliable so took the less efficient software route.
