hello ^_^ i have a brother that has an old rig, very old, like dual core ect...and i have a bonus corsair powersupply in my house now, and i was wondering, should i sell the powersupply or give it to him? he has an itek, would he get additional protections from a powersupply from corsair? like if a thunder strikes, or the eletricty goes off, would the corsair protect him ? thanks

(he's power draw is very little, so don't tell me a itek power supply gives less watts, i know that, i want to know what protections a quality power supply gives to the computer, not to the powersupply itself, like shutting off when overheated, if the psu itself blows up we don't really care lol)

More about : quality psu offer protections

A higher quality PSU will have more safe guards against failure than a low end PSU as they use higher quality parts and integrate protections into the device. I don't know which corsair PSU you have but the more you spent on the PSU the more safeguards it is likely to have. The corsair will also likely use less power so the Itek giving less watts isn't exactly correct. The real power difference comes down to the Corsair PSU likely being able to deliver more power when needed but at the same time drawing less power from the wall to give an equivalent amount of power to the system that requires it. (Say the system needs 35W the corsair might use say 42W and the Itec would use 48W to make 35W. These aren't real numbers mind you but it should give you an idea).

if there is a thunder storm its better to turn off the pc and remove the plugs from the socket doesn't matter how strong and good the psu is.....but other than that corsair is a good brand the cx and the vs series are not that reliable but does the job so yea you can give your psu to your brother its better than selling ....u will get less that half of the money u spend on the psu if u sell it .....
