If the hard drive is your only drive then go with the seagate. The WD green is a 5400 rpm drive which will be noticably slower in performance then a 7200 rpm drive.

As far as ram goes. You will not hurt anythng by using 2 different brands of ram sticks but they need to use the same voltage and CAS timings.
Now memory runs more smoothly when it is the same brand in a kit, as the chips are even cut from the same sheet of silicone. You are also better off to have 2x4gb over 1x8gb as you are able to use the full memory bandwidth when you use it in pairs.

For gaming and general multitalking 8gb is plenty and you wont utilize any additional ram.

If doing video encoding, 3d modleing, engineering software, heavy photo editing, etc, then yes more ram is good.

It is used for gaming but mostly music production/multitasking.

CORSAIR XMS3 8GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 Desktop Memory Model CMX8GX3M1A1333C9

I think this is the upgraded version of the 4gb that I have. Would this be ok to pair up with a 4gb one?. Thanks.
