Problem: Screen occasionally glitches. Glitch lasts <half a second. Seemingly random, but only happens when actually working on computer (does not occur while idle). So far I've only encountered in Chrome, but I haven't tried doing anything else, really. I notice it most when switching tabs and clicking around/scrolling with mouse. Tried opening Catalyst Control Center, but for some really would not open (tried run as admin too and it wasn't open in Tsk Mngr either.

Do you think it's a software issue or hardware issue. I already unplugged and reseated the DVI connection, but I can obtain another DVI cord. I will note that when unscrewing the DVI connection, the little hex screw-in came OUT of the video card. I screwed it back in and tighten with needlenose pliers.

Details: Build is less than one month old. Was working fine, and the problem is recent/unexpected. I did move recently (drove 5 hours with computer in box the tower came in, with padding).

Monitor: ASUS 24" 1200x1920 IPS
Graphics card: XFX R9 280X Black Edition Double Dissipation Graphics Card
CPU: i5-4670

Hey sorry to hear about your problem. I recently encountered the same issue and here is the fix that worked for me:

1. Open Catalyst Control Center
2. Go to Video / Global Video Quality / Uncheck Enforce Smooth Video Playback
3. Go to My Digital Flat-Panels / Uncheck Enable GPU Scaling and ITC Processing
4. Under Digital Flat-Panels go to Pixel Format / Make sure it is YCbCr 4:4:4: Pixel Format.

Hope this helps as it did for me :)

I had to re-install CCC because for whatever reason it would not open.

And no, that didn't do it. :(  Also, I didn't find a "Pixel Format" under Digital Flat-Panels.

If you use Windows Update to install any new updates with Graphics Drivers, CCC will not usually work. The only way I get it to work is to do a clean install of a new CCC and drivers (which usually come included in one package). I am sorry to hear that my advice didn't help. Are you running dual monitors by chance?

No, it's single monitor setup. SOrry for the delayed response. Haven't had any time to work on it. It's dirving me crazy though

The last bit advice I can give is make sure you have all updates and check your Graphics Drivers. If I remember correctly, after I installed new drivers, the screen glitch never happened again. Hope this helps!

I've made sure to update the driver to the correct one. I uninstalled CCC, then reinstalled. Same issue. Didn't happen when it was uninstalled, so I'm pretty sure it isn't a cable issue or anything like that (but then again sometimes it goes in periods of not-happening for elongated times). Doesn't seem like anyone else is looking over this thread... may repost. Thanks for your help, by the way!

I have run into the exact same problems and more with the exact same graphics card the R9 280X Double D by XFX. I can use my PC with no problems when I uninstall the GPU but when I have it installed I run into glitches when I boot into Windows 8 and I get a blue, white or green screen. It seems like it is a hardware problem with the GPU but it could be a software problem with Windows 8.
