I recently rebooted an old desktop that I've had in storage for a bit. It's running an AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4200+, 4GB of RAM, and a Radeon HD 4850. I installed Windows 8.1 onto it, and most things seemed to be working well. However, Doom 3 kept telling me that my OpenGL drivers needed updating, so I went ahead and downloaded the appropriate drivers for the 4850.
Prior to installing the drivers, everything except Doom 3 was running fine, no hitches at all. After installing the drivers, my entire display shifted to the left, leaving a two-inch black bar on the right side of my screen.
I managed to fix that by adjusting the display in the Catalyst Control Center, but when I booted up Doom 3 again, the black bar was still there. I tested my other games, and all except for Doom 3 and Brutal Legend were fine, while those two have the black bar on the right side of the screen.
I hope to upgrade this entire system in a month or so (swapping out everything but the case and the hard drives), but I'm curious to know if anyone has seen something like this before or has suggestions for fixing the issue.
Thanks so much for your time!
