As of a day or two ago, I just started getting MASSIVELY high pings, like above 1,000. This is weird, because I usually sit at about in the 80's. I only noticed it playing battlefield today, where I was pretty much locked out of the game because of connectivity (it showed a sign of a disconnected electrical plug). I also experienced this the other day in Blacklight retribution, where I was just lag teleporting, and seemed to have unusually high pings. At first I thought it was the game, but now I think It's my internet, but I don't know what to do because I've literally NEVER have had a problem the whole entire summer I've been here. I'm going to try turning everything off again and seeing if that works, otherwise I'm at a loss what's going on.

Solution
You can hard reset it by unplugging it for 60 seconds. But a factory reset is done by your ISP. It basically resets the firmware and sometimes resets the MAC address. Wait, actually some modems have a little hole in the back I think, that you can stick a paper clip into and that will reset it.

Yes, hard resetting the router/modem fixes a lot of problems. Try hooking up to the router with ethernet and seeing if that fixes it. If that doesn't work, connect directly to the modem with ethernet and try it. Test the ping in cmd with "ping google.com -t". If the problem only happens on wifi, it usually means there is packet loss, so try a factory reset on your router. If the problem happens on all connections, your modem might be broken. Call your ISP's tech support and they will probably reset your modem or send someone out to fix/replace it.

Ok, I turned off/on my Modem, and it did not solve the problem. Also, I do not have a router, I have a modem with ethernet and wireless built-in. As well, I saw the google ping test on another forum and tried that a while ago, and I didn't get any abnormalities, as all packets that were sent got received, and I did that about 4 or 5 times. As well since it is the modem, I have a direct, single ethernet cable hooked up from the modem to my gaming pc. I have not heard of this factory reset on the modem, and how do I do that?

Update: I just logged into Planetside2, and played a little bit on that game (massive battles on a couple different megaservers) and didn't get any connectivity/ping issues. Now i'm really confused...
