Hi, my computer won't get past the window logo.It gets a black screen past the windows logo and crashes when I go into safe mode/try to do a clean install of win8 . I have been trying to fix this problem for 3 hours, I have ruled out any hardware problems, now it's just down to software problem which i think might be a virus that my brother downloaded

A virus or malware can't prevent a clean install, if that is what you are asking.
Format C: is a complete cure, for any of them.

I have never even seen win 8, but it should be the same, as the rest.
First you have to set the BIOS to boot from CD.
Shutdown and put the CD in the computer, and start.
Follow the steps, and make sure you format when it comes to that step.
I like to use the full format, but quick should work also.
