i have the M11BB desktop case and it does not have motherboard stanoffs like the ones that you can take out instead there is just a bump were each screw goes and a hole. so just bumps. the older motherboard was mounted in that case without standoffs just on those bumps and it worked fine. do you think they act like stanoffs without looking like them or is this called preinstalled standoffs?

...if they weren't safe, Asus wouldn't have designed the case that way. A lot of OEM manufacturers use this technique instead of using actual brass posts in order to cut down on both parts and labor, and it should work just fine as long as everything lines up.

You're all being silly. Does the motherboard line up with the backplate that comes with it. IF it lines up, those are the standoffs. If it doesn't line up, you need the standoffs. I haven't seen a case that didn't need the standoffs for the motherboard to line up correctly with the plate in back. I have seen all manner of standoff though, and I don't know every case ever made. So check if you need that little bit for everything to line up correctly. That's the right answer.

Indeed. Asus is not well-known for their cases, but Corsair is and produces several cases that utilize integrated standoffs. Some of them have be redesigned to use standard brass screw-in standoffs, but that was done to increase the range of mobo compatibility, not because of any safety or shorting issues.

Ive had a couple of Thermaltake cases with "bumps" Commander series i believe, it should be fine, is there a brass centerpost somewhere on there? If so you're definetly okay... I dont have any personal experience with Asus Cases though, But like other people have said, if it lines up with the back panel's height and all the holes line up on the motherboard. You should be good to go.
