Hey guys, weird question but uh. I just got done finishing my first build, and I had two 8gb sticks of ram, and I had them set up in the dual channel configuration for my board. I booted up the comp and after checking the memory installed it said I only had 8. So I said no biggie whatever, just gonna reseat later.

Start installing windows updates and notice that 70% of my memory is being used up, which was real weird. Didn't think anything of it and just kept digging around on the internet anxious to play on my new computer and I get BSOD again. Said ok, maybe just I dunno what it was. Boot it up try it again. BSOD. So, I reseat my ram into slots next to each other, 16gb of ram when I reboot, and no more BSOD for the time being. Anyone know if it was the windows updates, or the ram or what it could've been? Build below if anyone's interested.

Mobo: Asus Crosshair V Formula AM3+
Video Card: R9 290X
CPU: FX-9370 4.4Ghz
Memory: Corsair Vengence 2x8GB
Case: Thermaltake Level 10 GT

Sounds like maybe a bad slot on the motherboard. What happens if you run Memtest?
