Hey guys, I am planning on getting the G3258 for my new build and I was wondering how to do the BIOS update. Can I put the CPU in and then just do it through the BIOS menu or do I need a different LGA1150 CPU to do it with? Thanks!

what motherboard are you getting?

I believe you need a cpu to do a bios upate, as a motherboard doesn't have any way to display ANY graphics on it's own without a working CPU.

To update the bios is usually just downloading it on a working computer, putting it on a USB thumb drive and then going into the bios and choosing the flash/update the bios and pointing it to the new bios on the USB.

Unless the manufacturer updated the BIOS before shipping it to the retailer i dont think it will work.
You can try asking ASRock, but the retailer might have the board in stock from before the haswell-refresh came out and thus the boards have the old bios.
