I wanna buy a new processor and I was wondering which one should i choose. For me the i5 is cheaper at the local store. I need da pc for gaming and think i5 is a good choice but fx8350 can be overclocked to i7 performance levels. Please advice. Also please tell me a gud board to go with the processor.

Solution
The FX-8350 can NOT be overclocked even close to i7 levels. You'd be lucky to overclock it even close to i5 levels, and in fact there are games where the FX-8350 loses to i3s.

For example...

The i5-4440 is stronger than the FX-8350. Normally the i5 is more expensive as well. If it's cheaper...

Wanted to quote you but accidently chose your answer as solution.

Intel motherboards are generally cheaper than AMD ones on similar performance levels. A z97 for normal overclocking will go for as low as 100$, while you would only get absolute crap boards on Am3+. A good h97 is 80$, with much more features than a am3+ board for that price. And you can even go as low as h81 with bios update for the I5, which sells for 48$ here.

Decision for gaming is clear. I5 by all means.

@logainofhades
I have an old Intel e2180 on basic intel board and 4gb ram. I recently got an r9 card and a gs 600psu.But it was bottlenecking and I got below par 20-25 fps on games like farcry 3. So I am getting a new processor.
